Literacy Fair Project at School

Tonight was Julie's night..........she found out today at school that she won 1st place in her category of Fantasy/Fairytale for the Literacy Fair!!! She was sooooooooo excited!! The book she read was Ever After High: The Storybook of Legends. Here is a picture of her and her storyboard.

She was so proud of herself, and well, she worked hard on this, she should be!! (Well, she DID have just a LITTLE help, lol!) Anyhow.......she also found out that she has earned a spot in the district Literacy Fair which will be held at the High School on Jan. 30. She can't wait!! We are hoping she does well there too, but, we'll have to wait and see how things go that night!! Here she is holding her 1st place ribbon

My little girl is growing up right before my eyes and is turning into such a beautiful young lady, inside and out!! I know God has some special plans for my little girl and I am soooo blessed that God chose me, of all people, to be her Mom!! I am so proud of you Julie and love you so very much!! Always do the very best with what the Lord has given you!!

The Blue Whale

Wow, isn't this Whale HUUUUUUGE?!! That's what we thought too, lol!! I was looking for something to do with the girls today on their last "official" vacation day before going back to school........and I found this whale that we could go see in a town called Catoosa on the famous Route 66. We wish it had been a tad bit warmer, but it was fun nonetheless. I read that it used to be a little swimming hole type park, but closed back in '86 I believe it was. The giant whale had two little slides, one coming off each side of him. There are places to sit to have a picnic too........I think we might try to go there when the weather gets warmer! After visiting with the whale, we drove around to see what else we could see........we ended up going to the Tulsa Airport to see if any planes were taking off or coming in for a landing........the girls love to watch planes!! Then we just drove around for a bit and the girls saw some wild horses running in a group......they were just so amazed to see the horses staying in their group while running along.......... I'm just very thankful that I have girls that can find enjoyment in the little things of life, and don't have to spend toooo much money on them. Once in awhile they might get spoiled, but usually it doesn't take very much to make them happy! Well, that was our day today......now, some blanket forts are ahead for this evening! Day 6 - Love for God's Word

Today is Day 6 in our challenge of Praying for our Children.......today's topic is "Love for God's Word."................ Psalms 19:10 - "May my children grow to find Your Word more precious than much pure gold and sweeter than honey from the comb." I know this is something that I want my girls to realize.......I want them to be reading God's word, to hide it in their hearts, and to find that God's word is soo very precious. His word is still applicable for today and can help them find answers for the problems that they will face. Help me Lord Jesus to keep in your word also, and to share your word with my girls, and to show them just how precious your word is! Amen!

Day 2, 3, 4, and 5 of Praying for our children challenge

Sorry, I was away for a couple of days and didn't get my posts up!! Today I am catching up! Here are the things to pray for these days: *Day 2 - Grow in Grace (2 Peter 3:18 - "I pray that my children may grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.")..... to grow in grace and knowledge we will need to have our children reading.....reading the Bible and learning what the Lord expects of them and us as parents!... *Day 3 - Love (Gal. 5:25 & Ephesians 5 - "Grant Lord, that my children may learn to live a life of love, through the Spirit who dwells in them.")..... live a life of love through the spirit that dwells in them, well, first we need to make sure that the RIGHT spirit is dwelling in them. The spirit of the one True God, Jesus Christ!... *Day 4 - Honesty and Integrity (Psalms 25:21 - "May integrity and honesty be their virtue and their protection.")..... Boy, these two attributes are tough in today's world, aren't they? Not too many children or adults for that matter, are very honest or have much integrity. We need to show our children these attributes by example and in God's word, show them how Jesus lived and to follow His example! Strive for excellence!... *Day 5 - Self Control (1 Thess. 5:6 - "Father, help my children not to be like many others around them, but let them be alert and self-controlled in all they do.")..... this I think is one of the toughest attributes for a child to have, self control......we would love to have our children be the "good example", sometimes that's not always the case.....sometimes our children give in to peer pressure in order to be "liked", even though they know that they probably shouldn't. We need to be there for our children and keep them in prayer always!! I know that I have failed at that, but am trying to get back on track......I want God's best for my girls........and I want them to be the best they can be for themselves and for the Lord! Please keep praying!!

31 Days of Praying for your Children - Day 1 Salvation

WELCOME!!! Today is the first day of our challenge, or month of prayer for our children. Today is the day that we want to concentrate on Salvation for our children....................... One verse that is on our calendar is: 2 Timothy 2:10 - New International Version (NIV) "Therefore I endure everything for the sake of the elect, that they too may obtain the salvation that is in Christ Jesus, with eternal glory." The next verse is: Isaiah 45:8 - New International Version (NIV)- “You heavens above, rain down my righteousness; let the clouds shower it down. Let the earth open wide, let salvation spring up, let righteousness flourish with it; I, the Lord, have created it." .......... As our children grow up, they will endure many things at school, with friends, sports, camps, family....whatever it is that they go thru in life, wouldn't it be nice to know that they have Jesus as their salvation? I know that's what I'd like for my girls! Let salvation spring up.....I just LOVE that part of the second verse...spring up to me sounds like a fountain that springs up and overflows and showers and refreshes us. That's what I'd love for my girls...for them to have Jesus as their salvation, have Him over-flowing and showering them with His love, goodness, faithfulness, protection, forgiveness, mercy, and grace. 31 Days of Praying for your Children....

officially starts tomorrow!!! Have you started yet, if so that's okay, just continue on.....but as for the rest of us...today is THE day!! What do you want for your children? Do you want them to know Jesus as their personal Lord and Savior?? Do you want them living the life that God has for them? Today is the day, do not put this off any longer......I'm not!! Instead of just praying Lord watch over us and keep us safe..........get real, get personal, get detailed......yes, God already knows what we want, BUT He wants to hear us tell Him and spend time with Him! He wants us to pray for the children that He has given to us to watch over. Sooooooo, stay tuned tomorrow for the first day of the "Praying for your Children" challenge! Granted, it probably should NOT be called a "challenge", but, hey, if it helps us to focus on prayer and our children for the month......I'm all for it!!

31 Days of Praying for your Children Challenge

Lately I have been wondering how my children will turn out as they get older. I see the attitude and actions of my almost ten year old, and she's acting more and more like a teenager already! My almost five year old is stomping her feet and screeching "Nooooooo!!" as loud as she can when I ask her to put away her toys. My patience sure get tested day to day with having children, lol!! Don't get me wrong, I LOVE my children with every beat of my heart......they are a JOY and a precious gift from the Lord, but........sometimes they just seem to get on that last nerve, lol!! What have I been doing wrong, why don't they listen??!! Hahahahaha.......well, well, well........the lightbulb finally came on the other night.... Have I been praying for my children?? I mean, REALLY PRAYING??!! Sure, I say prayers with them each and every night...BUT, what about MY prayers FOR THEIR little lives? Just like my grandma (who raised me) prayed for me....I want to do the same thing for my children......pray for their salvation, future mates, schooling, careers, friends, and all the problems that may come up in their lives...and everything else as well. I found this calendar on Pinterest the other day and thought it'd be a neat idea to start this.....officially I will start on May 31, but unofficially I need to do this each and everyday!! I would LOVE to get as many people on board with this to pray our children right into God's precious will for their lives and keep them there. Who's with me?!?! Here is the calendar chart that I found! Here is a calendar link where you can actually print out each day to make an actual little calendar to keep by your bed or wherever you pray, as a little reminder! OR, here is the actual picture on Pinterest if you'd rather print that out! Either way or find your own calendar on Pinterest or somewhere......whatever you decide to do, just do it! Pray for your children!! I believe in the power of prayer and I need to trust my children to the Lord!! I hope to see some of you join me in this!
